Our Story
There is something rather magical about planting seeds, caring for them and then watching them grow into blooms that end up in a beautiful bouquet
— Sian

I have had a passion for plants for as long as I can remember. Before turning to flower-farming I was a teacher for many years, spending much of my time out of the classroom gardening and ‘plant hunting’. In 2019 I embarked on a diploma with the RHS and this led me to start a garden design and maintenance business. Whilst I enjoyed aspects of this business, I realised my true passion lay with flowers and in growing plants and so I approached my Aunt early on in 2021 to ask if I could set up a cutting garden on her farmland. Then in February 2022 I took on a plot on the edge of Burbage and a year later I doubled my growing space there. I now run workshops and PYO sessions from the Burbage plots.

Our Flowers

We love growing flowers - but not to the detriment of the environment. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at The Cutting Garden. We avoid the use of peat, single-use plastics, pesticides and floral foam. We only use natural, plant-based feeds and recyclable packaging. Unlike imported flowers, our blooms are not sprayed with harmful chemicals or flown in. We encourage a balanced ecosystem; our soil is teeming with life and the flowers abuzz with beneficial insects and we leave areas wild to feed and shelter them year round.

When you buy flowers from us you know their true origin and that they are fresh, natural and haven’t impacted negatively on the environment.
